Hey everyone! My name is Steph and I am a rabbit owner. I got my first rabbit in 1990 and twenty-two years later, I have owned thirty-five rabbits. Currently, I have five, ages 4 months to 10 years five months. Rabbits are a lot of work, just as much as a cat or dog. My rabbits are more than just pets, they are my babies.
My rabbits are outdoor animals who live separately in cages near my house. Rabbits are social creatures and I think they feel better knowing they have other rabbit friends around. They prefer to have their own space and will fight with other rabbits if they get in their space. The exception is when two rabbits of the same gender are raised together.
Over the last twenty-two years, I have learned a lot about how to care for my rabbits. In this blog, I want to share with you some tips to have healthy, happy bunnies. I just want to say up front, that if you are thinking of getting a rabbit for your young children because you think they are cute and won't be much work, PLEASE DON'T BUY A RABBIT!!! I have personally seen rabbits be abandoned to run free, where they will have no food, no water, and will probably get hurt or die. If you have a rabbit that you no longer want, please, please, please find it a loving home and do not turn it loose. Tame rabbits are not prepared to live in the wild. If your kids want a bunny, please buy them a stuffed toy! Rant over.
Rabbit lovers unite! :)
